The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, 2004, states that the mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and further indicates, that local churches provide the most significant arena through which disciple-making occurs. Within a local church, one of the most visible and readily accessible forums available, which offers the opportunity to make and to continue to develop disciples of Jesus Christ, is the Christian Education program and the Sunday School program, in particular.
Bethel UMC, like all churches, has been given the awesome responsibility of helping all age groups, from toddlers to seniors, to learn and grow in their faith. All of our Sunday school teachers, helpers, youth counselors and Christian Education workers have strongly been encouraged to utilize three aspects of the Christian life into their program planning and activities.
